I grew up in India, the birthplace of yoga. The yoga I studied there did not come in many versions. Upon moving to America, I came across diverse interpretations of yoga leading to different styles. I approached them with an open mind and honest spirit of inquiry. I have had the privilege of learning a great deal from not-so-well-known, yet dedicated teachers from my hometown in India as well as local practitioners in California. Some of the teachers I remain grateful to are: Ben Thomas, Iyengar yoga; Larry Schultz, Ashtanga yoga; Lino Miele, Ashtanga yoga; Sarah Powers; Desiree Rumbaugh, Anusara yoga; Jill Miller, Forrest Yoga; Mark Horner, Shadow yoga; Tias Little, and Vasanthi Bhat.

Although each style has something unique to offer, the unifying spirit of the traditional yoga kept resurfacing in my mind. Classic Yoga emerged as an integrated blend, taking the best of all the disciplines I have been exposed to over the years.

Yoga, to me, is like playing the "music of stillness." Until we experience it, we don't know what we are missing.
